While the inspiration for the drawings may be from the 19th century the tableware and cookware are meant for 21st century living.  All pieces are microwave and dishwasher safe.  Portmeirion ceramicware is designed to perform at normal oven temperatures up to 340 deg F/170 deg C.  Portmeirion bakeware can be used at temperatures up to 480 deg F.
